Great American Book?
I need to find a book that is considered "great American literature" for school. We get to choose, and it's getting to the end of the school year; I'd prefer to read something that is 350 pages or less. I've already read: One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Great Gatsby, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Tortilla Flat, The Crucible, The Scarlet Letter, The Lovely Bones and On The Beach. It also needs to be at a 11-12 grade level. Any suggestions? :)
I forgot to mention I read To Kill a Mockinbird, Animal Farm and Lord of the Flies.
Thanks for the help, everyone!

- Moby Dick by Melville.
- Grapes of Wraith...
- To Kill A Mocking Bird by Harper Lee is a good one. also try a Truman Capote book. I'd suggest Breakfast at Tiffany's(watch the movie before) or In Cold Blood (watch the movie " infamous" before). (side note: the two authors were good friends)
- Toni Morrison's "Beloved"
James Baldwin's "Another Country"
Although these books are not classic literature. They are considered by some to be part of the great american modern literature and a great alternative to reading Moby Dick. No offense to the person who suggested it (but it is over 350 pages).
- Try The Scarlet Pimpernel, it's about the French Revolution, it's a fast and easy read and a classic.
