What is a good oil for homemade tortilla chips?
I found a recipe for baked tortilla chips and I would like to try it. It says to use vegetable oil to moisten the tortillas before baking, but is there a better oil to use in terms of keeping saturated and trans fats to a minimum?
Thanks!

- You can also use olive oil flavored spray, like PAM.....Canola has the lowest in sat fat and trans fat......You might also want to salt the chips or use a combination of salt and chili powder....Enjoy!!

- try a flavored olive oil we have used the garlic flavor and it was great
- Sunflower oil DEFINATLEY! My mom made some with that oil and we just wolfed them down. Next time she made a LOT more. Lol!
- Gotta go with the EVOO
Extra Virgin Olive Oil................
- canola oil , is zero saturated fat . cholesterol free and a great test . before adding the oil just warm it for just a little. I can tell you for how long cuz don't know how much you making but just warm it and it work alot better.
- Vegetable is good but will saturate when you heat it. Grape-seed oil will not saturate even under high temperatures. If you are concerned about your health and saturated fat intake then grape-seed oil would be your best bet. It is a little bland but it is a lot healthier. It is also great for frying. This oil may be a bit more expensive but a lot better for your health. Grape seed oil is what we use in my house. I will give you a sight with a list of facts. It also tells you the saturation points of other oils.

Olive oil is the worst oil to fry with. That will saturate almost instantly.
