Can I make tortilla chips from flour tortilla wraps?
I want 100% whole wheat tortilla chips. Would it be possible to cut up the tortilla wraps and bake them? Is there any way to make 100% whole wheat tortilla chips? Thanks!
Cool, thanks for the idea! Is there a way to do it without oils? I'm trying to be healthy (key word TRYING, lol). I'll use oil if I have to but would like to make 'em without.

- Sure you can! They may be a little thivker than what you would find in a mexican restaurant but you can do it. Heat some oil in a pan. About 4 inches worth. that cut your tortillas into triangles. Be sure your oil is VERY HOT then throw them in. Be ready to almost take them our immediately. Dn't let them get too dark. They will darken a little more once you remove them.
TIP: to get most of your grease off, use paper bags or carboard coke flats. For some reason cardboard or brown paper bags remove grease the best.
- I would guess you would cut them into pie shaped wedges , then bake them. Maybe on low and slow? Like 100 degrees so they wouldn't burn?
- If you bake them they will be hard, and taste stale and rubbery. I think you have to use oil, or else just warm them up and use them as soft tortillas.
- I do this all the time! Just cut up the tortillas like pizza slices using a pizza cutter. Scatter them on a pan and bake at 300 for 5 minutes. Flip the wedges and bake another 5 minutes. That's all there is to it- no oil necessary! They are really good deep fryed in fryer if you like them extra crisp. If you use peanut oil and dry them well you don't add any bad fat to your diet.
- I use a little bit of no fat cooking spray. Then I bake the little wedges on 375 for about 7 minutes. I flip them and cook like another 3-4. Sprinkle with a little salt or seasoning when you pull them out of the oven.
